Project Profile

Haven of Hope

“Every penny we save matters, and EOC helped us save a lot. The energy improvements are reducing our operating costs and help us provide food and services to the guests at our shelter.”

Derrick V.

Haven of Hope Co-Executive Director of Operations

Haven of Hope (HOH) provides food, shelter, clothing, counseling, rehabilitation, and hygienic services to the homeless and less fortunate. They meet immediate tangible needs and provide support that helps people achieve self-sufficiency by providing employment readiness services, healthcare, and case management. HOH reaches a diverse population and welcomes all in need.

HOH is a privately funded organization and every dollar matters, making this a perfect project for the Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC) NEEP program. The large number of people served daily made it an exemplary site to perform a comprehensive scope of energy efficiency upgrades through NEEP.

EOC staff conducted an energy assessment and helped secure funding to offset the purchase and installation of new equipment. By leveraging funding from the Denver Office of Nonprofit Engagement, Xcel Energy, and private donations —NEEP was able to pay the full project cost of $69,915.42.

The organization is expected to save 30,981 kWh and 739 therms. Each efficiency upgrade will help lower both capital and energy bill expenses for HOH and allow them to spend more on providing direct services to fulfill their mission.
