DENVER – Coloradans struggling to
keep up with bills may get some relief as
Energy Outreach Colorado distributes
$1.558 million this week in additional energy assistance. Energy Outreach Colorado
(EOC), the only non-profit in the state that raises funds for energy
assistance, contributes funding to 107 emergency assistance agencies
across the state.
“Many of Colorado’s
limited income families and seniors are overwhelmed by their heating
bills this winter, particularly if they’ve experienced a job layoff or
other difficulties,” said Skip Arnold, executive director of Energy
Outreach Colorado.
He added that although
the state has benefited this year from a nearly 50 percent increase in
federal funding through the Colorado Low-income Energy Assistance
Program (LEAP), households that don’t qualify through those guidelines
or need additional assistance may still be able to receive help through
EOC agencies. To obtain a LEAP application, find a nearby emergency
assistance organization with energy assistance funds available, or make
a donation, go to
www.EnergyOutreach.org or call toll free 1-866-HEAT-HELP
(1-866-432-8435).
