DENVER –
An enthusiastic gathering of Energy Outreach Colorado supporters raised
$170,000 for energy assistance at the Fourth Annual National Fuel
Marketing golf tournament on Sept. 11. More than 100 golfers, most from
the natural gas and utility industry, hit the links at Inverness Golf
Club to benefit EOC’s energy assistance program, which provides funding
to more than 100 emergency assistance organizations across the state.
Event sponsors were National Fuel Marketing, title sponsor; St. Mary
Land & Exploration, premier sponsor; Noble Energy, coal sponsor; Bentek
Energy, Enserco, Hein & Associates, RTS Corp. and US Bank, wind
sponsors; American National Bank, solar sponsor; and Colorado Mining
Association, Guaranty Bank, MHA Petroleum Consultants, National Fuel
Corp., Orion Energy, Pioneer Natural Resources, SourceGas and Xcel
Energy, team sponsors.
“As a leader in the energy industry, National Fuel Marketing is very
aware of what it costs to produce energy and how current high costs
impact our Colorado low-income community,” said Dan Joss, president,
National Fuel Marketing. “We are committed to supporting Energy Outreach
Colorado’s efforts to help Coloradans who struggle to pay their energy
bills.”
Natural gas prices have tripled in Colorado over the past several years
and are expected to increase by about 10 percent this winter.
“All too often, income-limited seniors or families feel forced to
sacrifice food or medical care during winter months in order to afford
to heat their homes,” said Skip Arnold, executive director of Energy
Outreach Colorado. “Coloradans, and especially those who need energy
assistance, are extremely fortunate to have the strong support of the
oil and gas industry right here in our state. We couldn’t provide the
funding we do for bill payment assistance and energy efficiency upgrades
for affordable housing without their ongoing generosity.”
Energy Outreach is the only statewide non-profit organization that
raises money and distributes energy assistance funding year round
through a network of more than 100 emergency assistance agencies.
Colorado residents can help neighbors in need pay energy bills and avoid
shutoffs by making a tax-deductible donation to Energy Outreach Colorado
through its website –
