Natural Gas Industry Golf Event Raises $150,000 for Energy Assistance

August 30, 2007

DENVER – National Fuel Marketing, a natural gas marketing company based in Denver, in partnership with St. Mary Land & Exploration, raised $150,000 at its Third Annual Natural Gas Industry Charity Golf Tournament to benefit Energy Outreach Colorado on Aug. 23. The event, held at Inverness Golf Club in Englewood, doubled what was raised last year in spite of a little precipitation.

“Being in the energy industry, we at National Fuel Marketing are particularly aware of and sensitive to current historically high energy costs, and how they impact our fellow Colorado citizens,” said National Fuel Marketing President Dan Joss. “We are thrilled to assist Energy Outreach Colorado as they help those who struggle to cope with this issue, especially in the winter when the needs are greatest.”

Among the participants and donors were the Colorado Mining Association, Enserco Energy, Noble Energy, Hein & Associates, National Fuel Corporation, Rosetta Resources, US Bank, RTS – Oil and Gas Recruiting Specialists, Hogan & Hartson, Janus Intech, SourceGas, Xcel Energy, JW Operating Company, American National Bank and Bentek Energy.

Natural gas prices have tripled in Colorado over the past four years and are expected to remain high this winter.

“All too often, income-limited seniors or families feel forced to sacrifice food or medical care during winter months in order to afford to heat their homes,” said Skip Arnold, executive director of Energy Outreach Colorado. “Coloradans, and especially those who need energy assistance, are extremely fortunate to have the strong support of the oil and gas industry right here in our state. We couldn’t provide the funding we do for bill payment assistance and energy efficiency upgrades for affordable housing without their ongoing generosity.”

Energy Outreach is the only statewide non-profit organization that raises money and distributes energy assistance funding year round through a network of more than 100 emergency assistance agencies.
Colorado residents can help neighbors in need pay energy bills and avoid shutoffs by making a tax-deductible donation to Energy Outreach Colorado through its website – www.EnergyOutreach.org.
