December 5, 2006

DENVER – Energy Outreach Colorado, the only independent non-profit organization in the state that raises money for energy assistance and energy efficiency programs, is adding four new members to its board of directors.

“Last year we distributed more money and helped more people in need than ever before,” said Skip Arnold, executive director of Energy Outreach Colorado. “The leadership and experience of these additional board members will help us continue to grow our programs and increase energy assistance funding so we can help even more seniors, disabled and families with children afford the heat they need during the coldest months.”

The four new members to Energy Outreach Colorado’s board of directors are:

He also is co-chair of the natural resources and energy committee of the transition team for Colorado Governor-elect Bill Ritter, as well as a current member of the board of directors of the Colorado Oil and Gas Association.

Patricia Nelson Limerick, board chair, Center of the American West at the University of Colorado at Boulder, created to identify and address a variety of critical regional issues, including land, water, and energy use. Limerick teaches a variety of courses on the American West and has written numerous books and columns that have impacted the field of western American history.

Troy Whitmore, director of external affairs, United Power , Brighton, a Colorado-based electric distribution cooperative. Whitmore oversees communications, marketing, energy management, governmental affairs and community relations for the co-op. He also serves on the board of Colorado Advocates for Rural Electrification.
