Become a HEAT HERO and help keep your neighbors warm and safe

For 28 years, Energy Outreach Colorado has seen thousands of caring Coloradans make generous donations to keep their neighbors warm and safe. EOC is the only nonprofit in the state that raises funds for energy bill payment assistance to help low-income families and seniors afford home energy – especially during Colorado’s cold weather season.

This month, EOC is launching a campaign to increase enrollment in its monthly donor program called HEAT HEROES. There currently are about 10,000 HEAT HEROES who make monthly contributions to EOC on their energy bill or credit card, providing nearly $1 million each year for Coloradans who struggle to afford home energy. This is one of the simplest – yet most impactful – ways that Coloradans can provide consistent help to ensure their neighbors have warm and bright homes.

For information about how to become a HEAT HERO, go to energyoutreach.org/monthly or call 303-226-5057.

“Federally-funded programs for low-income Americans are increasingly at risk, so local nonprofits like Energy Outreach Colorado are more important than ever to support our most vulnerable neighbors and communities,” said Skip Arnold, EOC’s executive director. “When we can stabilize a family by making sure they have the basic necessities of heat and light, everyone in the community benefits.”

Thanks to the HEAT HEROES and EOC's other generous individual and organizational donors, the nonprofit is providing $7.7 million this year to help low-income Coloradans catch up on their overdue home energy bills. EOC distributes the funds through its statewide network of 95 community assistance partners that include senior support agencies, county human services offices, faith-based organizations and veteran support groups. Payments are made directly to utility or fuel companies.
