EOC Delivering $7.2 Million Worth of Heat and Help to Coloradans

To help Coloradans remain warm and safe in their homes this winter, EOC began our new fiscal year this month by awarding grants totaling $7.2 million for statewide energy bill payment assistance. The grants go to 105 community organizations that are part of EOC’s assistance network.

The funding is down about $2 million from last year due to cuts in state severance tax payments, so EOC is working hard to fill in the gap through individual and organizational donations.

Our assistance network – which includes Goodwill, Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, and many other community organizations -- accepts energy assistance applications, determines eligibility and approves direct payments to local utility or fuel companies to cover struggling households’ overdue bills. These organizations receive EOC grant funding on a quarterly basis.

To apply for energy assistance, go to energyoutreach.org/get-help or call toll-free at 1-866-HEAT-HELP (1-866-432-8435).

We are in our 27th year of providing energy assistance to Coloradans. Our other affordable energy programs include the Crisis Intervention Program, which repairs the nonworking heating systems of low-income households; and energy efficiency programs to install improvements in single family homes, affordable housing and nonprofit facilities.
