The goal of participating in NEEP is to save your facility money in utility costs each year through energy efficiency and conservation. EOC provides a one-time investment that in turn provides your organization with recurring funds for your programs!
Through this program we hope to raise your awareness around energy conservation so that you can maximize the annual return on investment that is possible!

We will help your organization by identifying:

  • what you are already doing well to save energy at your facility

  • energy saving opportunities that cost no money

  • and energy saving opportunities that require funding.

QUALIFYING NON-PROFITS

  • Must be a 501c3 non-profit organization (churches with outreach programs will be considered on case by case basis).

  • Must own building (long term leases will be considered on case by case basis, no government owned facilities).

  • Mission must be related to serving vulnerable populations.

  • Organization must be responsible for paying utility bills for facility and have two previous years of utility data available.

  • Facility must currently be in use for programming unless temporarily closed for major renovations.

  • Priority will be given to facilities with the high energy demands that shelter people, such as 24-hour and day shelters, safe houses and residential treatment centers that typically serve men, women and children on the brink of homelessness, individuals that are coming out of domestic violence situations, and individuals with mental illness or special needs.

  • Program is currently available within:

  • The City and County of Denver

  • Xcel Energy territory

  • Atmos Energy territory

  • Source Gas territory

If your organization is considered a housing provider and/or your clients are responsible for paying rent, then you may be a better fit for the Governor’s Energy Office Multi-family Weatherization program. Please click here for more information.

MATCHING FUNDS

In lieu of matching funds, nonprofits will be required to:

  • Create an Energy Action Plan for your facility. This plan will address opportunities to reduce energy consumption at your facility and will involve implementing new behaviors and policies regarding energy conservation.

  • Present your Energy Action Plan to a cohort of other nonprofits.

  • Submit a ‘Request for Funding’ mid-way through the program that addresses:

  • Why EOC should consider funding the improvements identified to save energy at your facility

  • What steps your nonprofit has taken since participating in the program to address the no cost conservation opportunities

  • How your clients will benefit from the utility cost savings available through this program.

In some cases there may be opportunities to provide matching funds in order to increase the amount of work that can be completed at your facility but these measures will only be options and no matching funds are required to participate in this program.

APPLICATION

Applications are reviewed three times per year. All complete applications received by February 1st, June 1st, and November 1st (extended from the previous deadline of October 1st) will be considered. You will be notified of decisions within six weeks of the deadline. All approved applicants will be required to attend an orientation meeting.
